Tree Stash Black IPA

A foundation of pilsner and roasted malts offer a smooth chocolate and cocoa profile which supports a bouquet of winter citrus and dank forest pine charged by a double dry hop of Amarillo, Simcoe, and Citra. Nostalgic and comforting but brings a fresh perspective with a modern hop bill. 6.5%

At the end of the day we’re ultimately just a few beer nerds exploring flavor for the fun of it. Tree Stash is brewed in this spirit, inspired by the influential Black IPAs that have come before it, while utilizing a modern playbook to retain all the elements we’ve come to know and love in the current world of IPA.

Mashed with a blend of Admiral and Rahr Pilsner base malts buffered by a trio of the smoothest, dehusked roasted grains for deep color development and impressions of chocolate and cocoa while leaving behind any harsh roast flavor. A small addition of Barke Munich from Weyermann provides the mid palate notes of crusty bread and enhances the maltiness without eclipsing the incoming hop intensity.

Whirlpooled with a grip of Amarillo and Simcoe then double dry hopped with Amarillo, Simcoe, and Citra. We’re getting a rich experience of chocolate covered orange slices, blooming pine nettle, subtle holiday spice, roasted chestnuts, and a fragrant top note of cedar forest. Tree Stash pours a vibrant shade of black in the glass topped by a walnut-tinted foam and a shimmer of ruby tones.

Aromatic, hop saturated and reminiscent of the hoppy beers of yore. A beer for anyone who was hopping around (get it?) during the early 2010’s era of craft beer (cascadian dark ale anyone?). It should also be said that if you’re a fan of Amaro (as much as we are) you’ll love the unique complexity of bright citrus, woody, herbaceous, and malt driven flavors with just the right amount of lingering bitterness.

For now, we’ll pray for snow - but soon enough - we’ll see you out on the mountain for some snowy shenanigans. While you’re out there, don’t forget your Tree Stash!
